Events in Ashburn May 2016

Unseasonably cold and very wet weather hindered some of the events in Ashburn early in May. As they say, the show must go on and, of course, indoor events weren’t affected.

Snow Delays in Ashburn

Monday we took a snow day, leading to snow delays in Ashburn. The drama department at Riverside cancelled one night’s performance of The Brothers Grimm Spectacular to make sure everything was just right. Luckily, Chris Herren had room in his schedule to push back is very important talk to our community.

By the end of the week, though, we had smooth sailing, with high temperatures and outdoor fun by our high schoolers and some great accomplishments. Read on!

Snow Delays in Ashburn

The thespians at Riverside HS had to double up on practice because of the snow days. Thursday’s performance was cancelled, but the show went on for the weekend.

The weather cause many reschedulings. Among those events was Chris Herren, former NBA player who was able to reschedule his talk at Riverside HS. Chris shared his life journey of the highs of playing basketball and, unfortunately, the highs of alcohol and drugs. Chris talks to youth across the country about his lows and his recovery.
